Walmart move important for growth
To the Editor:
I am writing in support of the proposed relocation of Walmart from East Wareham to Tobey Road/Cranberry Highway in West Wareham.
Our family-run business has been servicing both the individual and business community for over 44 years. I feel this longevity and commitment to the town gives me a unique understanding and appreciation for the needs of local business, our citizens and those of the town. With proper planning, the benefits that will accrue to our town as a result of this project will not only provide a financial stimulus by way of additional tax revenues, but also create employment opportunities to citizens of all ages. In these economic times, these considerations are paramount for future growth and fiscal viability for Wareham and the region.
It should be encouraging to see that a major retailer like Walmart is interested in expanding in our town. Hopefully their plans will be viewed in a positive manner and greeted enthusiastically. The continued development of the West Wareham retail area, with its proximity to two major highways, serviced by an already existing enhanced interchange design, can only benefit the town and its residents and the entire business community.
