Wareham artists win Senior Art Contest Awards

Two Wareham artists, Kate Furler, of Swifts Beach, and Abbott Fay, of Great Neck, won top prizes in the annual Massachusetts Senior Art Contest. Contestants from 75 cities and towns around Massachusetts submitted 150 pieces of original art in this event. Both Fay and Furler won in the watercolor category. The topic this year was “A Favorite Memory.”

Fay submitted a painting called ”Homestead Drive-In Restaurant, Cambridge.” Furler’s submission was named “Being a Grandmother.” Both Furler and Fay paint with the Canalside Artists, a watercolor-only group at the Bourne Senior Center.

Other members of the Canalside group who also won ribbons in this show include Janet McDonald, of Plymouth, Helen Johnson, of Rochester, Jane Egan of Lakeville, Avis Glasheen of Bourne and Betty DeVincent, of Rochester.
