Wareham Council on Aging February events

The Wareham Council on Aging has announced several events scheduled for February. All events take place at the Multi-Service Center at 48 Marion Road unless otherwise noted.

Feb. 7

Decorative painting classes start on Feb. 7 and last for four weeks. Classes start at 10 a.m. Professional artist Dinah Clark will lead the classes. Fee is $20 and includes supplies. Call 508-291-3130 to register. Classes are funded in part with a grant from the Mass Cultural Council. Chaplain Ken Hart of Compassionate Care Hospice will present a talk on “Getting Older and Having Fun” at 2 p.m.

Feb. 7 and 21

Public Health Nurse Julie Silva will present information on norovirus on Feb. 7 and preventing falls on Feb. 21. Both talks start at at 10:30 a.m.

Feb. 8 to April 12

Tax help through the AARP’s Tax Aide Program will be offered from 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. Appointments are available to help seniors prepare 2018 tax forms. Call 508-291-3130 to make an appointment.

Feb. 14

A Valentine Day luncheon will be held. Bring a sweetheart or a friend for this special meal served at 11:30 a.m. The menu includes baked ziti with meatballs, scali bread and chocolate fudge cake. Call 508-291-300 ext. 6514 to make a reservation. A donation of $2.50 is suggested.

Feb. 20

A dish garden workshop will be held. This workshop starts at 1 p.m. The fee is $2 and reservations are required. Call 508-291-3130. In the event of inclement weather, the makeup date is Feb. 27.

Feb. 21

Enjoy a free movie on the third Thursday of every month. On Feb. 21, at 1 p.m., “Casablanca” will be shown. Free popcorn is provided.

March 8

Sign up early for the trip to Foxwoods. A fee of $22 includes $10 in slot play and a full buffet luncheon with travel by coach. Make reservations by calling 508-291-3130.
