Wareham Democrats to hold annual caucus March 19

Mar 5, 2016

The Democrats in Wareham will hold their annual caucus to elect delegates and alternates for the 2016 Massachusetts Democratic Convention on March 19.

The caucus will be held at the Multi-Service Center at 10 a.m. to elect 11 delegates and three alternates to the convention. Delegates will be equally divided between men and women in accordance with Democratic Party rules. Anyone at least 18 years old, and registered as a Wareham Democrat as of Jan. 31 may attend and run for a delegate position.

Candidates for delegates and alternates must be present at the caucus and consent to nomination in writing.

Candidates may make a two-minute statement and may distribute materials on their own behalf. All ballots will be confidential and recorded by the caucus teller. Anyone not elected as delegate or alternate at the caucus may apply to be an “add-on” delegate in the following categories: youth (age 35 and under), minority, or disabled.

The convention will be held on Saturday, June 4 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.

The Wareham Democratic Town Committee meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. on the second floor of Town Hall.
