Wareham dentist Steven Miller pleads guilty

Apr 1, 2011

Wareham dentist Dr. Steven Miller plead guilty to illegally distributing and dispensing controlled substances in U.S. District Court in Boston on Thursday, April 7.

His sentencing is scheduled for June 30 at 2 p.m. He faces up to ten years in prison and a $1 million fine.

Miller was arrested in December when the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), a division of the U.S. Department of Justice, raided his office. In his affidavit, Special Agent Todd Prough stated that a cooperating witness told an agent in September that Miller “was prescribing controlled substances without a valid medical purpose, namely in exchange for sexual favors, such as the feeling of breasts or buttocks.”

Miller originally pleaded "not guilty" to the charges and was released on $10,000 cash bail after a detention hearing in U.S. District Court in December.
