Wareham Department of Natural Resources catches litterbug at Agawam Mill Pond

Oct 22, 2018

Less than a week after a pile of trash appeared at the high-tension power lines near Rickey Land, the Wareham Department of Natural Resources caught another litterbug by the Agawam Mill Pond boat ramp on Monday.

The pile of garbage left behind included a loveseat, a trash bag full of old clothes, an inflatable pool and an Amazon box. The collection of junk was left on the ground next to a blue trash barrel intended for use by fishermen on the boat ramp.

According to a Facebook post from the department, the litterbug was found the same day and will now face a hefty fine under Mass General Law. The department added that they have ‘cameras and eyes’ everywhere.

“So if you’re going to illegally dump make sure to smile for the camera,” officials said.

The department is still seeking the public’s help in locating whoever dumped the garbage at Rickey Land, which includes old playground equipment, a 42-inch flat screen T.V. and lots of food wrappers from Cumberland Farms.
