Wareham Free Library offers glitz and glamour for a good cause
There's a reason it has been three years since the Wareham Free Library last held a jewelry sale fundraiser.
"We can't ask people to clean our their closets every year," joked Priscilla Porter, president of the Friends of the Wareham Free Library.
The library opened the sale on Thursday afternoon with tables filled with hats, scarves, bags, purses, and jewelry of all kinds. Even cellphone cases and belts were on sale. Most items were on sale for between $1 and $5, with some special items costing up to $10.
Winna Dean said the Friends spent all Sunday afternoon sorting through the donated items and arranging them neatly on the tables.
On Saturday, Winna's son Scot Dean will be at the library providing jewelry appraisals from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. He'll also buy gold from anyone wishing to sell their jewelry.
The sale will continue on Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
