Wareham High group recognized for youth advocacy efforts
The Wareham High School Photovoice Project has been recognized with the Rising Star Award at this year’s High Point Prevention Services Department's 6th annual Be in the Know Youth Conference.
The Plymouth Area Prevention Collaborative is a regional organization serving Carver, Middleboro, Plymouth, and Wareham dedicated to reducing substance use and misuse, particularly among youth.
Students in the group used photography and discussion to highlight emerging issues in their community, including substance use, underage gambling and mental health. Their efforts led to the creation of a new youth coalition at the school.
Though still in its early stages, the coalition is working to raise awareness and promote prevention efforts among students and the broader community.
