Wareham High School students and staff were recognized for their sportsmanship on Sept. 12.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) honored the school with its South Coast Conference Sportsmanship Award at the MIAA District D meeting in Hanover.

Student athletes Chelsea Anderson, Stacia Krzyzek, Quintin Silveria, and Angel Rodriguez accepted the award on behalf of the school's athletes.

The students presented a slideshow to all of the district's athletic directors and principals, which highlighted the sportsmanship that all of the district's teams exhibited throughout last year's three sports seasons, said Wareham High School Principal Scott Palladino.

The students "also touched upon the community service project that each team took on as part of the philosophy of giving back to the community," Palladino added.

Palladino, Athletic Director Marc Loranger, and teacher and coach Cindy Sylvia represented the teachers, coaches, and administration at the meeting.
