Wareham High School presents 'The Tragedy of Macbeth'
Burnham Wood once again travels to Dunsinane -- this time on the Wareham High School stage.
Wareham High School's Viking Theater Company will present William Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Macbeth" at 7 p.m. on January 5, 6, and 7 in the high school auditorium.
Directed by Theatre Director Don Bliss, "Macbeth" spins the tragic tale of a Scottish nobleman who, buttressed by the prophecy of his kingship, is seduced by the evil of the power he seizes.
"Macbeth" deals with themes that fascinated the Roman Catholic James I as he succeeded the Protestant Queen Elizabeth I on the throne of England. Hence, the play stands atop all of the bard's work in its relevance to England's contemporary political realities.
"We find that the vice and virtue of centuries ago isn't so different from that in our world today, and that a close examination of human motivation contains a rich tapestry of universal truths," Bliss said.
