Wareham Hurricane Sandy Coalition hosting gift card collection

Feb 19, 2013

The Wareham Hurricane Sandy Coalition is collecting gift cards in an effort to help residents of the Oakwood Heights section of Staten Island, N.Y., continue to rebuild after the October storm.

Gift cards to stores such as Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Walmart, Home Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy's, are being collected, or to any other retailer that sells products that can be used to rebuild, refurbish, or replace items ruined by water and mold damage.

The Coalition is working with Guyon Rescue, a volunteer-driven organization located in the heart of the hard-hit area.

Members from the Wareham Hurricane Sandy Coalition will be at Eastern Bank on Main Street on Friday, Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to collect gift cards.

Gift cards can also be sent to the Onset Bay Association, PO Box 799, Onset, 02558. Include a note that the cards are for the Hurricane Sandy Coalition.

Updates on the Coalition's efforts are posted regularly at www.warehamtv.org/sandy.

Coin collections are also taking place at businesses throughout town to help with the effort. To get a colorful "Coink" piggy bank at your business, contact Sally Morrison at sammorison@comcast.net.
