Wareham Land Trust Photo (WLT) Contest Winners to be Recognized at Awards Ceremony on December 6
An awards ceremony to recognize the winners of the Wareham Land Trust's photo contest will be held during the official opening of the Tweedy & Barnes conservation area on Blackmore Pond Rd., December 6, 2015 at 1:00pm. Festivities will include the award ceremony recognizing the 19 winners of the WLT Photo Contest - Explore the Outdoors, guided walks of the property and a tailgate party with refreshments.
The contest was open to all ages and encouraged contestants to “grab a camera and head outdoors.” The contest featured two categories:
- The Solitude and Serenity of Nature – flora, fauna, landscapes, or seascapes (no people) and
- People Enjoying the Land (that had to include at least one person in a natural setting).
Prizes were awarded in each category with a prize to a young photographer (7 years of age) awarded in the category of “The Solitude and Serenity of Nature.”
The Wareham Land Trust mission is to conserve Wareham’s open space and natural resources, to unite citizens in a common goal of conservation and responsible land use, and to educate the public about the environmental and economic benefits of protecting open space and promoting sustainable development.
The Wareham Land Trust prides itself in conserving open space and providing beautiful natural areas for recreation. Some areas have walking trails, informative signs, and canoe / kayak launch sites; there are no entrance fees.
Directions to Tweedy & Barnes: Follow Main Street, turn onto Fearing Hill Road to Blackmore Pond Road. Parking is off the pavement on Blackmore Pond Road less than 0.25 miles from County Road.
The WLT Photo Contest provided even more incentive, if any was needed, to go out and enjoy the land. For more information about the Wareham Land Trust visit our web site:
