Wareham man arrested in New Hampshire following car chase
A Wareham man is in police custody after attempting to elude law enforcement in Massachusetts and New Hampshire in a car chase that crossed state lines.
Dominick Howard, 20, was caught reaching speeds of 100 miles-per-hour as he crossed into New Hampshire from Massachusetts Tuesday, Sept. 30, according to the New Hampshire State Police. Howard had an active felony warrant out for his arrest in Massachusetts at the time.
Around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, Lowell Police alerted New Hampshire State Police Howard was heading towards New Hampshire on Route 3 in a 2006 Ford Escape.
New Hampshire State Police took over the chase in Nashua, New Hampshire and around mile marker 9.8 on Route 3, state police deployed a tire deflation device. Howard’s vehicle lost a tire and veered off the right-side of the road in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
According to New Hampshire State Police, Howard fled to a nearby wooded area and the three passengers in his vehicle were taken into custody. Around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, police said Howard returned to the scene of the crash where he was taken into custody by New Hampshire State Police and Merrimack Police.
Howard has been charged with disobeying a police officer, reckless conduct, resisting arrest, reckless operation and as a fugitive from justice. Two of the passengers taken into custody were released while the third passenger, a juvenile, is charged with resisting arrest.
Howard appeared in Merrimack District Court Oct. 1 and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
