Wareham man charged with heroin possession in Yarmouth
A Wareham man was arrested in Yarmouth Monday evening on outstanding warrants and then was found to be in possession of approximately 10 grams of heroin, according to Yarmouth police.
Police said that Adam Veary, 27, of 26 Cross Road in Wareham, was found to be in possession of approximately 10 grams of heroin after undercover officers noticed Veary, who had several warrants for his arrest, standing with two other individuals outside of a Cumberland Farms at 1297 Main St. (Route 28) at about 5:30 p.m.
Officers reportedly approached the three individuals, identified themselves as police, and immediately placed Veary under arrest for four outstanding warrants in Barnstable County, including three felony larceny charges and one felony charge for receiving stolen property.
After placing Veary under arrest, officers found a clear plastic bag with several knotted baggies inside of it containing a substance which tested positive as heroin, according to police. Veary also allegedly had a metal spoon with burn marks and three capped hypodermic syringes, one of which they said contained heroin. Police also reported finding a small bundle of rope, which they said could be used to “tie off” ones arm to locate a vein for the syringe.
Veary was brought to Yarmouth Police Headquarters, and was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at Barnstable District Court.
