Wareham organization celebrates International Women's Day

Representatives from the New Age Model's 'R Good Business organization turned out to celebrate International Women's Day at the Wamsutta Club in New Bedford.

"America's New Age Model"  sect of the organization was founded in 1992, by Wareham resident Joanne Byron . "America's New Age Model" was originally headquarted in Framingham and now the office is based in Wareham.

In addition to fighting discrimination, the group is dedicated to supporting America's literacy. The group educates children and young adults on the importance of reading for self-enjoyment and knowledge. The organization also has awarded grants to many Massachusetts schools.

Its efforts have captured the attention of many local and national celebrities, including athletes, Olympic greats, actors, state legislators, city and town councils, prominent educators, and models who endorsed the group's efforts.

Ted Danson was one of the first supporters along with Debbie Reynolds, Victoria and the late Senator Kennedy, Congressman Barney Frank, Teresa Heinz, Mayor Menino, and Billie Jean King.

The list is still growing. One hundred more signatures were gathered during the event.
