Wareham Police arrested a 56-year-old Taunton woman for shoplifting on Thursday, Jan. 3, after she presented loss prevention personnel at Walmart with an old receipt.

Police say the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. when the suspect, Suzanne McLaughlin, reportedly purchased a mattress topper for $200 and then came back to the store for a second one without paying.

When confronted by loss prevention personnel, police say McLaughlin showed employees the receipt for the first mattress topper. She then refused to speak with security staff and fled the store.

Officers Richard Robidoux and Christopher Smith stopped McLaughlin in a van near the exit to Tobey Road where she was arrested and charged with shoplifting, second offense.

McLaughlin was then taken to the police station to be processed before being brought to Wareham District Court.
