Wareham Police charge man with trafficking in heroin

A Wareham man, who police searched after responding to a report of suspicious activity, was arrested and charged for possession of heroin.

Mario Ogletree, 29, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with trafficking in heroin, a felony, Wareham Police said.

Ogletree was scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District court on Friday.

On Thursday, Wareham Police received a call reporting suspicious activity involving three people parked in a wooded area near Squaw’s Path.

Upon arrival, officers observed a white powder in the front seat of the car, along with a plastic bag containing powder residue, which police believed to be illegal drugs.

Officers, including one Bourne officer with a K-9, searched the car and found a plastic bag containing approximately 56 grams of heroin, police said.

Police said the officers determined that Ogletree was allegedly in possession of the bag. Two digital scales and several cell phones were also confiscated at the scene.
