Wareham Police respond to 8,000 incidents in two months

The first two months of 2019 have been busy for Wareham Police with officers responding to over 8,000 incidents according to Acting Police Chief John Walcek.

Walcek said these incidents included building and area checks, car accidents, domestic disturbances, medical emergencies, service calls, motor vehicle stops and other various crimes.

Of these calls, 25 were reportedly for overdoses. Officers allegedly administered Narcan to the victims in 15 of these cases.

Overall, the Wareham Police Department has made 203 arrests and criminal summonses in 2019. Walcek added that several individuals have also been placed into protective custody by the Department for various reasons.

“Wareham Police Officers have been very busy protecting and serving their community,” he said.
