Wareham schools to add new PR position
The Wareham Public School system is looking to update its public relations outreach with four new PR positions at each school.
Superintendent Kimberly Shaver-Hood proposed the new positions to the School Committee meeting on Wednesday night. She said the positions would be paid for with stipends from various grants, not the schools’ general budgets.
“There is a stipend of $1,409 for approximately five hours of work per week,” Shaver-Hood said later.
She said each person in each of the four schools would be responsible for assisting the principals in putting together newsletters as well as communicating with parents and news publications. Shaver-Hood said she saw the need for a PR position at each school, in order to better share good news and “promote our students.”
“We are looking for someone who is willing to take the initiative to highlight our students,” Shaver-Hood said.
The School Committee approved Shaver-Hood’s request to add the four new positions.
