The Joseph X. Vasconcelos Memorial Scholarship Fund will host its fourth annual Memorial Baseball Tournament this Saturday, August 18, at Spillane Field.
The tournament raises money for the scholarship fund, which formed in memory of Vasconcelos, a 2006 graduate of Wareham High School who loved baseball. He was killed in a car accident in 2009 at age 21.
Registration for the Babe Ruth tournament game begins at 9 a.m. The game starts at 10 a.m. There is no registration fee.
Adult tournament registration begins at 11 a.m. The registration fee is $25. First pitch is at noon.
A slow-pitch softball game kicks off at 2 p.m. Registration is $12.
Players participating in the tournament who wish to play in the slow-pitch game will not have to pay an additional fee for the softball game.
The registration fees cover the costs of tournament T-shirts and a donation to the scholarship fund. Winners of the games will receive a tournament trophy.
Wareham Little League will recognize its players of the year during the tournament.
The event will also feature food, drawings, prizes, and other family fun.
