Wareham woman charged with OUI had two children asleep in the back seat
A Wareham woman was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence and endangering two children asleep in the back seat of her car on Saturday, according to Carver Police.
Officials said Jennifer Bangs, 40, of 418 Gatehouse Drive in East Wareham was found asleep at the wheel of her car parked in the driveway of 154 Tremont St. with her engine running.
Police were dispatched at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 in response to a report of a suspicious car. Officials said a third-party caller indicated that an unidentified car kept pulling into and out of the driveway of the residence.
Bangs was found asleep in the driver seat of her 2002 Mercury Sable with the engine running and the headlights on. There were also two girls asleep in the back seat.
After several attempts to wake up Bangs, she woke up and failed a field sobriety test. She was arrested and transported to the Carver Police Station for booking.
The two children were released to a relative and friend of the family and the Department of Children and Families was notified of the situation.
Bangs was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and two counts of child endangerment. She was bailed and was to be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Monday, June 30.
