Winter storm warning in effect, 2-hour delay for Wareham schools
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the South Coast that will be in effect until 7 p.m. Monday night.
Due to the weather, Wareham Public Schools will have a two-hour delay.
Snow accumulation is expected to be at least 4 inches and up to 8 inches of snow. Winds are predicted to be between 10 and 20 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. A high wind watch remains in effect Monday morning through Monday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow may make roads impassable and produce power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines.
Early Monday, rain and snow is predicted after 3 a.m. Later Monday, snow is predicted, mainly before 3 p.m. The National Weather Service says 1 to 3 inches of new snow accumulation is possible Monday late morning into afternoon.
