YMCA gets boogie fever with Disco Night
Tie dye, white pantsuits and feathered hair were back in fashion on Friday night as the Mattapoisett and Wareham YMCAs teamed up for Disco Night.
Held at Camp Massassoit in Mattapoisett, the event raised money for the financial aid fund that offsets membership fees for many in the area.
"We don't turn anybody away," said Laura Prisco, executive director of the Gleason Family YMCA in Wareham.
She added that financial assistance is a great benefit to families, especially the younger members.
"We have kids and a huge teen population," Prisco said. "I don't know where these children would be able to participate if not for the YMCA."
Friday's event was the first fundraiser collaboration between the Mattapoisett and Wareham branches of the YMCA South Coast.
"We do it all for the cause," said Mattapoisett's Executive Director Joe Marciszyn.
Clad in a white pant suit a la Saturday Night Fever, Marciszyn played DJ to the event with classic 70s tunes.
"It's gonna be a fun time," he said.
