YMCA hosts Amazin' Gamin' truck
Wareham’s children and adults were once again treated to a round of free video games when the Amazin’ Gamin’ truck visited the Gleason Family YMCA Friday evening.
YMCA membership coordinator Cathy Longfield said she and Y Director Debbie Fringuelli got the idea from the Wareham Free Library, who had the truck come to the library twice.
Though both events at the library were at the Amazin’ Gamin’ of Cape Cod company’s expense, as a fundraiser for the library, the YMCA paid for the truck to come so people could have fun.
“It was a member appreciation day,” Longfield said. “We would love to do it again in the summer.”
Longfield said the Y had no need for a fundraiser at the moment, as it had raised $130,000 in its last round of fundraising efforts, exceeding its goal by $15,000.
“We had a good year,” Longfield said. “Because we our goal, we can do some things for the community.”
Longfield said the Y’s new goal for the upcoming year will be to raise $150,000.
