Young students return to school full-time

Wareham students from Pre-K through fourth grade returned to schools for the first day of their new full-time, five-days-a-week in-person schedule.
Minot Forest Principal Joan Seamans said that the day was “awesome.”

“It was great to see all the kids,” Seamans said. “It was very different to see the classrooms full of kids.”
The students are following many new rules throughout the school day to maintain a safe social distance from each other, but Seamans said it went smoothly. The kids even practiced going to the cafeteria before their actual lunch time so they could familiarize themselves with their assigned seats.

Paraprofessional Cheryle Shubert, who was helping make sure each student got on the right bus home, said it was awesome to see the kids again.

“Some of the kids, I can’t believe how big they got!” Shubert said, noting that it had been a year and a half since she had seen many of them.

One fourth grader said his day was good, and when asked by Seamans if he liked anything in particular, he replied “all of it,” which is about as good a review as a school day can get.
