Michael G. Briggs, 67, passed away at home from lung cancer on May 22.

He was the son of Elwin and Beatrice Briggs of Marion.

He was retired from Local 379 and drove a tractor trailer. Michael enjoyed his flowers in his yard along with sitting at the canal watching the boats. His other passion was watching and visiting freight yards and train museums.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 25 years Marion Briggs and six children: daughter Lisa and husband Danny Laing, of Marion; daughter Holly Briggs and partner Diane, of Georgia; daughter Heidi and husband Jack Duarte; son Christopher and Beckie Patrick, of Richland, Wa; son David Patrick and partner Shauna, of Middleboro; daughter Tammy Mendes and partner Raymond, of Wareham.

He is also survived by his grand children: Nicole and husband Jeremy Haynes and their four children, of New Bedford; Roland Jr. and Michael Canuel, of Florida; Mallorie and Brooklyn, of Washington. David Jr. and Christopher Patrick, of Middleboro; Darnell, Alaysha, and Shayla Mendes, of Wareham. In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law Betty Belrose, of Missouri; daughter-in-law Beth Perry and sons Chad and Jamie; brother David Briggs and family, of Wareham; sister Barbara and Jack Schoch and family, of Washington; aunt Sissy Adams, of Marion; nephew Steven Briggs and Rita, of Marion; nephew Sherman Briggs, of Marion; sister-in-law Nancy Middleton and family, of Florida; brother-in-law Ronnie Belrose and family, of Rochester; sister-in-law Judy and Steve Shepley and family, of Rochester; sister-in-law Karen Pierce and family, of Missouri; and brother-in-law Norman Belrose, Jr. and family, of Texas.

A private memorial service for immediate family and friends will be held at 137 Fearing Hill Rd, West Wareham on Sunday, June 23, at 3 p.m.
