Christopher F. Lyons, 55

NEW BEDFORD – Christopher F. Lyons, 55, of New Bedford, passed away on June 26, 2025, at home. He was the son of Francis B. Lyons, Jr. and the late Patricia M. (Welch) Lyons.

He was born in Brockton and lived in New Bedford for many years.

He graduated from Brockton High School, class of 1988 and he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from the University of MA – Dartmouth.

Chris worked as a Residential Manager at two group homes in New Bedford.

While in high school, he played on the varsity football team all 4 years and his team won the Super Bowl every year. He also played football while in college at UMass, he was the captain of the football team in high school and Co-Captain in college.

He enjoyed freshwater and saltwater fishing, He was big fan of Jimmy Buffet, Pearl Jam and U2 and he attended many concerts. He also enjoyed watching movies, cooking and baking the best apple pies in the world.

Survivors include his father, Francis B. Lyons, Jr. of West Wareham; his sister, Kathleen Cannizzaro of Vero Beach, FL; his longtime partner, Margaret Champoux of New Bedford; his nephews and nieces, Michael Lyons of Brockton, Emily Lyons of Brooklyn, NY, David Cannizzaro of NH, Adam Cannizzaro of Attleboro and Chelsy Cannizzaro of Brockton; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael J. Lyons and his nephews, Jacob Lyons and Andrew Lyons and his best friend, Teddy Donovan.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Central St., Stoughton.
