Wareham Police nab man with 55 grams of heroin

A 33-year-old Barnstable man was arrested on July 10 after police pulled over his vehicle and discovered 55 grams of heroin, Wareham Police said.
Carl F. Koopman, who resides in the Barnstable village of Cummaquid, was stopped at approximately 9:15 p.m. by officers and detectives from Wareham and Barnstabl who were investigating heroin distribution in the Cape Cod area, according to police.
Officers found the heroin, which has an approximate street value of $4,500, contained in individual packaging for "distribution purposes," police said.
Koopman was arrested without incident, charged with trafficking a "Class A" substance, and held in lieu of $10,000 bail. He was arraigned in Wareham District Court on July 11.
