Donald E. "Mr. B" Baxter
Donald E. "Mr. B" Baxter, 85, of Wareham died June 8, 2010 at home. He was the widower of the late Norma L. (Buell) Baxter and the son of the late Myron W. and Fannie N. (Ellis) Baxter.
He was born in Wareham and lived there most of his life. He graduated from Wareham High School.
Mr. Baxter was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII serving in the American Theater, Asiatic Pacific Theater, and the invasion of the Ryukyus Islands.
Mr. Baxter worked as a transportation assistant for Commonwealth Electric for 42 years. He retired in 1991.
He was a member of the Plymouth Lodge A.F. & A.M. and the American Legion Post 220 in Wareham. He enjoyed his daily walks to the Mill Pond Diner.
Survivors include his son Craig B. Baxter and his wife Donna, of Wareham; his daughter Linda B. Bishop and her husband Gene, of Fishersville, VA; his sister Elizabeth Elliot, of Lakeville; seven grandchildren, Erin A. Baxter, Heather R. Schilling and her husband Matthew, Jay N. Shirley, Jr. and his wife Karen, Sarah J. Shirley, Terrie L. Bishop, Kimberly A. Jones and her husband Jeff, and Melinda C. Bishop; several nephews and nieces.
His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rte. 28), Wareham. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
