Catherine D. (Gonsalves) Lopes, 92, of Onset, died July 26, in the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Buzzards Bay. She was the widow of the late Manuel F. Lopes and daughter of the late Bartholomew and Lena (Pina) Gonsalves.

She was born in Bourne and lived in Onset all of her life.

Mrs. Lopes worked as a bar maid and waitress at several area restaurants, including Sammy Queens and the Blue Flame, both in Onset.

She enjoyed shopping, going to breakfast, trips to Foxwoods Casino, yard sales, arts and crafts, cooking, and listening to Cape Verdean music.

Survivors include her son, Gilbert J. Lopes and his wife Christine of Onset; 3 grandchildren, Randy and Kelley Andrews and Tahisha K. Lopes; 7 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and her best friend, Juliette “Tootie” Costa. She was the mother of the late Joan Andrews.

Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Onset. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
