Town Planner resigns
Town Planner John Charbonneau has turned in his letter of resignation, and the town has accepted it, Town Administrator Derek Sullivan told the Selectmen on Tuesday.
"There's going to be some transition in that department," Sullivan said, adding that the town plans to post the position as soon as possible.
The Town Planner is charged with handling zoning and development issues, among other things.
Hired in 2010, Charbonneau divided his time between Wareham and Rochester, putting in three days per week in Wareham and two in Rochester.
Rochester Planning Board Chair Arnie Johnson mentioned that Charbonneau was no longer working as town planner there at that board's meeting on Tuesday.
Charbonneau will take on the role of Director of Planning and Development in Raynham on September 26.
