Volunteers to be recognized with Laine Bilodeau award
April is Volunteer Month and the Council on Aging is sponsoring the first Laine Bilodeau Award to recognize volunteers who are so important in today's tight fiscal times at the Council on Aging.
The event is scheduled for April 15 at noon in the community room of the Multi-Service Center at 48 Marion Road. There is a gallery display picturing a short history of Laine's life, and light refreshments will be served.
Bilodeau volunteered at the Council on Aging five days a week for the last five years.
"To say that he was a fixture here wouldn't do his service justice," said Elizabeth Pezzoli of the Council on Aging.
Bilodeau died several weeks ago and was remembered in a memorial service at the Tabernacle of Praise on March 29. Besides the Council on Aging, Bilodeau volunteered with several programs around town, always giving back.
"Volunteering was his life," said Pezzoli.
