Wareham Fire District Water Dept. to flush mains starting April 22
The Wareham Fire District Water Department will begin to flush district water mains on Tuesday, Apirl 22. The flushing is expected to last through July 3.
The Water Department will flush mains every day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The department cautions that it's not possible to predict how long flushing in a given area will take.
The district will put up signs and use its reverse 911 system to alert residents when workers will flush a particular area.
Customers may notice discoloration or cloudiness in their water, and are advised that this is a temporary effect of the flushing, and it will clear up. Customers should check the clarity of their water before drinking it.
The flushing is done to keep the pipes clean of sediment and bacteria. The Water Department will also add chlorine to the water during this process.
