Wareham mostly mirrored the state in the Primary Election on Tuesday, with almost all of the same election results as were experienced statewide.

Steve Grossman won the Democratic Party nomination for State Treasurer on Tuesday evening, defeating Boston City Councilor Stephen Murphy by a vote of 561 to 364.    Grossman, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee will face Karyn Bolito, who ran unopposed and garnered 733 votes, in the November election. The incumbent State Treasurer, Timothy Cahill, is running for Governor on the Independent ticket.

In the most contested race of the evening, Suzanne Bump defeated Guy Glodis and Mike Lake for the Democratic nomination for State Auditor.  Bump received 472 votes, Glodis received 268, and Lake 186.  On the Republican side, Mary Z. Connaughton of Framingham, a former Turnpike Authority member, defeated Kamal Jain, of Lowell, by a vote of 699 to 120. State Auditor Joe DeNucci, who has served since 1987, did not seek re-election.

In the race for Representative to Congress for the Massachusetts Fourth District, incumbent Barney Frank handily defeated Rachel Brown for the Democratic Party nomination.  Frank received 790 votes to Brown's 241.  He will face Sean Bielat, who defeated Earl Sholley by a tally of 506 to 352 for the Republican Party nomination, for an opportunity to unseat Frank.

The Governnor's Council winner in Wareham was Charles Cippolini with 609 votes on the Republican side.  Bourne resident Patricia Mosca was the top vote getter on the Democratic contest with 341 votes.  The tallies were tight, however, with Oliver Cippolini receiving 201 votes, and Walter Moniz receiving 177 votes in Wareham.  Statewide, the results were not official as of press time.

Turnout was 8 percent, according to the Town Clerk's Office.
