Domenic M. Pantaleo, 96
Domenic M. Pantaleo, 96, of Plymouth, formerly of Medford and Brockton died Oct. 18, 2014. He was the widower of the late Madeline A. (Flori) Pantaleo and the son of the late Nicolo and Mary (Figlioli) Pantaleo.
He was born in Winchester and lived in Medford, Brockton, Florida and Plymouth. He was proud of his Sicilian heritage. Mr. Pantaleo graduated from Hemphill Diesel Engineering School and attended NYU majoring in Musical Composition.
Mr. Pantaleo was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. While serving overseas, he was assigned to conduct a USO show with his band.
A talented musician, Mr. Pantaleo began playing the violin at age 10, followed by piano, string bass and the tuba. He joined the Arlington Community Symphony, Arthur Fiedler and the McDowell Club Symphony Orchestra and Boston Symphony in Tanglewood.
After the war, he went to New York to play with the big bands preparing music for Broadway Musicals and top stars like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and many others.
Mr. Pantaleo later worked as a draftsman and was employed at MIT and Stone and Webster in Boston.
Survivors include his daughter, Paula P. Wilk and her husband John of Plymouth; a sister, Rose Pantaleo of Ocala, Florida; seven grandchildren, Charles Ryan, IV, Domenic Ryan and his fiancé, Shauna Ryan, Andrew Ryan, Thomas and Melissa Pantaleo, Nicole and Lily Pantaleo, Pamela and Tom Habershaw, and Joseph Pantaleo; five great-grandchildren; many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was the father of the late Thomas Pantaleo and Pamela Gauthier.
His funeral Mass will be held at noon on Friday, Oct. 31, in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
