Mar 6, 2015
A small chimney fire was contained by Onset Fire Department personnel on Main Avenue Friday afternoon, March 6 at approximately 4 p.m.
There was no structural damage, and no injuries were reported by Onset Fire Captain Jeff Dias.
Main Avenue near Dummy Bridge was shut down briefly while the crew worked to put out the fire.
"There was a chimney fire with no extension to the structure," said Dias, who added that the home had to be ventilated following the fire.
Fire department personnel could be seen on the roof of the home near the chimney working to defuse the fire. Onset's Ladder 1 truck was used to get the firefighters onto the roof of the home. Several other Onset Fire Department Vehicles were on scene.
