Raymond J. Cardoza, 73

Raymond J. Cardoza, 73, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston on February 19, after a brief illness.He was the loving husband of Eda L. Cardoza (Carrara).

He was born in Wareham, and was the father of Raymond Arthur Cardoza, Renee Serrano and Eva Sheehy. He was predeceased by two sons Theodore Cardoza and Raymond Cardoza Jr.

Raymond was an accomplished local builder who worked on the Cape for over 50 years. Raymond enjoyed saltwater fishing, hunting, boating and wood working. Raymond was the caretaker for St. Joseph Friary in Onset and spent years remodeling both the parishes of St. Mary's in Onset and St. Margaret's in Buzzards Bay. In addition, he was the caretaker for many homes on Taylor’s Point in Buzzards Bay where he resided with his family for over 40 years.

Raymond was acknowledged as a local hero when he saved a fisherman from drowning in Buzzards bay in Dec. 3, 1993. Raymond was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was an amazing man to all who truly knew him and will forever be remembered for his kindness.
