Thespians take an icy leap
The snow couldn’t stop them this time.
Winter conditions made it impossible for the folks involved with Buzzards Play Production to take part in “Lover’s Leap” on Valentine’s Day, so organizers decided to push the event back.
On Saturday, a half-dozen or so brave souls took a dash into the icy waters at Indian Mound Beach to raise money for the non-profit devoted to bringing the arts to Wareham.
“It actually wasn’t too bad,” said Manny Moitoso, one of the event’s participants. “The air temperature wasn’t too bad. I think the water was around 38 degrees. It’s better than when we were originally supposed to do it.
“It felt good,” said participant Meghan Groves, who braved the icy waters along with several members of her family. “It was refreshing.”
Moitoso said that almost everyone who went for a swim had taken part in a performance at Buzzards Play.
“They’ve all helped out — it’s a family affair,” he said. “It was for a good cause.”
