The Pound wins medals at grappling tournament
Brian LaPointe and Jake Perry, two students from The Pound Martial Arts Center - Brazilian Top Team Cape Cod, on Rt 28 in East Wareham, competed and medaled at the NAGA (North American Grappling Association) Northeast Grappling Championship Tournament at the Twin Rivers Casino in Lincoln, RI.
The October 16 event is the "World's Largest Grappling Tournament," for which both LaPointe and Perry have been training since the martial-arts center opened in August. It was their first competition. They are both white belts with approximately two-months experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
"They both trained very hard over the past two months," said Krystine Jones, co-owner of The Pound. "We see them in every class and also at open mat training for several hours on the weekends. We were proud to have them represent The Pound and Brazilian Top Team."
