Judith A. (Ferrini) Rooney, 79, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, Oct. 11, at her home in Onset. Judith was the wife of Philip A. Rooney for 58 years. She was born in Brockton the daughter of the late Dr. Peter Ferrini and Gladys Mae (Creamer) (Ferrini) Devlin.

She attended Brockton Public Schools, graduated from Brockton High School, and Brockton Beauty Academy. A self-employed cosmetologist, Mrs. Rooney owned and operated Judy's Beauty Shop in Onset.

She was a member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She is the past Worthy Advisor of Brockton Assembly #20, a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color, a Past Mother Advisor of Wareham Assembly #56 and a past State Grand Deputy for 10 years. She loved being a homemaker and enjoyed traveling, going to the movies, dining, and socializing with family and friends who will truly miss her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; David A. Rooney and his fiancé Charlotte Jones of Buzzards Bay and Rhonda A. Cushing and her husband Mark of Wareham. She was the grandmother of of Maxwell, Alicia, Taylor, Joshua and Meghan. She was the half-sister of Peter Ferrini and his wife Gloria of San Antonio, Texas. She was the sister-in-law of Diane C. (Rooney) Landerholm and her husband Carl of Brockton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends for a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 24, at the Rooney home in Onset from 1:00-4:00 PM. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 5 Manely Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379 and/or the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
