Margaret F. Butler, 86, of Buzzards Bay, died December 6, 2010 at the Carney Hospital, Boston. She was the daughter of the late Philip A. and Frances L. (Curry) Farren.

Mrs. Butler was born in Boston and lived in Pt. Independence, Onset. She then lived in Washington, D.C. for many years before moving to Buzzards Bay upon her retirement.

She graduated from Wareham High School in 1942.

Mrs. Butler worked as a congressional secretary on Capitol Hill for Congressman Hastings, Congressman Nicholson and Senator Clark of Pennsylvania. She retired in 1966.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Onset and taught Christian Confraternity Doctrine. She was an honorary member of the Wall Street Gang.

Survivors include her daughter Kathleen L. Dalzell and her husband Timothy of Marshfield; three grandchildren, Christopher Dalzell and his fiancée Miranda, of Los Angeles, CA, Laura Dalzell, of San Francisco, CA and Michael Dalzell and his wife Kate, of West Roxbury; two great-grandchildren, John and Catherine Dalzell; her cousins Joan Hubner, of Buzzards Bay, Ruthann McCaan, of Irvington, NY, Cindy, Allen, Michael and Brian Sarapas, of Plainville, and Robert Yeo of Dennis; her adopted daughter Carol Levins-Goldstein, of Miami; her adopted granddaughter Danielle MacPhee-Watson, of Cohasset; and many friends, especially the cadets at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. She was the sister of the late Philip O. Farren who died in 2000.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010 in St. Mary’s Church, Onset. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours have been omitted.
