Eighth grade dual enrollment students got the chance to glimpse their possible future, in a visit Bridgewater State University Jan. 22.

Though the dually-enrolled Wareham High Schoolers were busy taking exams, the eighth grade students got to tour the university, eat lunch in the cafeteria, and meet Wareham High School graduate Mason Vasconcellos, who is a current Bridgewater State University student.

The dually-enrolled eighth graders take morning classes at the high school, and the dually-enrolled high schoolers take morning classes at Bridgewater State University. Both groups are selected based on an application process.

“I think it's important to get students excited about college at an early age. These students are driven and we want to keep them motivated throughout their high school years,” high school Principal Scott Palladino said in an email. “In the end we hope they have a greater understanding of the college experience, cost and requirements to be admitted.”
