Two arrested on illegal drugs charges

Two Wareham residents have been arrested on illegal drugs charges, according to the Wareham Police Department.

Steven Miranda, 49, and Kaitlyn Pritchard, 21, were arrested when detectives executed a search warrant for illegal drugs at room 5 at the Rosewood Motel on Cranberry Highway on Tuesday afternoon, police said. The warrant was obtained as a result of an investigation regarding use and sale of cocaine and heroin from the room.

Police said that, as they entered the room, they detectives saw Miranda packaging and bagging suspected heroin. They found 19 corner cut plastic bags of the suspected heroin, along with a chunk of the same suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia, including three digital scales, a ledger documenting sales, baking soda, and cut sandwich bags; along with cash totalling $1,072 found in various places around the room. Detectives also seized power tools and a TV suspected as being traded for drugs from the room.

Miranda was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin over 18 grams, and Pritchard was charged with knowingly being present where heroin is kept, according to police. They said investigation regarding the possible stolen property is ongoing, and that Miranda and Pritchard will be arraigned at Wareham District Court on Wednesday, Jan. 27.
