Selectmen approve licenses, application
Within 25 minutes, the Board of Selectmen wrapped up their meeting this week, granting liquor licenses and permitting the renovation of a gas station's underground tanks.
Owner Fadi Heneine was granted approval to replace the storage units and pumps at Speedy Mart, located at 2238 Cranberry Highway.
Attorney Andrea McKnight, who was with Heneine, said the new units will still fall within the confines of the license.
"We're here today just to make sure that when construction starts and we start this work that we're not going to run into any problems," said McKnight. "We want to just make sure everybody is on the same page."
The application was approved by the three Selectmen present at the meeting: Chair Judith Whiteside, Patrick Tropeano, and Anthony Scarsciotti.
Earlier in the evening, the Dudley L. Brown VFW, located on 4 Gibbs Ball Park Road, was granted two, one-day liquor licenses for events coming up this month.
Whiteside explained that those seeking one-day liquor licenses need not come to the meeting unless there is something unusual in the paperwork.
Next week, the Selectmen will discuss business on the upcoming Town Meeting agenda. Town Meeting is scheduled for October.
