Kiwanis return to Wareham

Feb 2, 2011

The Kiwanis have returned to Wareham and Bourne.

A new club, the Kiwanis Club of Bourne Wareham, was organized in the fall, officially received its charter in December, and is currently seeking additional members and additional ways to serve the communities.

A previous Wareham Kiwanis Club disbanded years ago. The organization was brought back to town through the sponsorship of several active clubs on Cape Cod.

Kiwanis clubs around the world are involved with a global campaign for children as is evidenced by the organization’s theme of “Changing the world, one child at a time.”

The Kiwanis Club of Bourne Wareham meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at noon at the Mezza Luna restaurant in Buzzards Bay.

The club’s first community service project was to collect food for the Bourne Food Pantry.  Members are currently surveying the two communities to find additional ways to serve.

The club’s website is www.bourne-warehamkiwanis.org.
