Robert “Honk” Santos, 69, of East Wareham died Sept. 24 peacefully with his family by his side. He was the husband of Diana L. (Pimental) Santos. They were married for 44 years.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Hazel Louise (Coe) Santos. A graduate of Wareham High School, Class of 1966, Mr. Santos was the star kicker on the Wareham Vikings football team.

After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war, Mr. Santos worked as a pipe layer in the construction industry. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.

Survivors include his wife Diana Santos; his sons, Michael K. Pimental of Springfield and Robert A. Santos and Steven A. Santos both of Wareham; his siblings, Christine Andrade of Wareham, Benvina Santos of Knoxville, Tennessee, Harold E. Santos of Connecticut and Kimberly Ann Santos of New Bedford; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Frank J. Santos, Jr. and his sisters, the late Mary Ann Gray and Dianne Santos.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Sept. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Oct. 4 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11 a.m.
