Dorothy Noyes, 90

Dorothy M. (Haynes) Noyes, 90, of West Wareham died unexpectedly Oct. 21 at Tobey Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of the late Charles P. Noyes, Sr.

Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Helen L. (Waitt) Haynes, graduated high school in 1944 from Milford. Straight from high school Dorothy started her career as a telephone operator for New England Telegraph and Telephone. She loved her job there and took an early retirement to start her family in 1958. Dorothy moved to Wareham in the 1960s, where she raised her family.

After her retirement, she was a taxi driver for Del’s Taxi in Wareham for 15 years, she was also known as “Checker.” She enjoyed many things in her life, but most importantly her family, friends and her cat “Lucky.” Dorothy loved to garden, was a great cook, expert at puzzles and crosswords and loved her horror movies. Dorothy truly lived and enjoyed life.

She is survived by her loving son, Charles P. Noyes, Jr. and her devoted daughter in-law Lori Noyes of West Wareham and her daughter, Patricia Ann Wallace of Columbus, Georgia. She was predeceased by her sister, the late Helen L. D’Allesandro.

A memorial service will be held at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
