Ronald D. Chambers, 62, of Onset died Oct. 28 at McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich after battling cancer for nine years. His wife was by his side.

Born and raised on Nantucket, he worked for the public works department for many years. Chambers moved to Wareham 20 years ago and retired from the Bourne Department of Public Works in 2014.

He is survived by wife Cheryl Chambers of Onset; his brother, Chuck Chambers of Ocala, Florida; three sisters, Jackie McDonough and her husband Bill of Sandwich, Jody Chamber of Ocala, Florida and Tina Smith and her husband Paul of Nantucket. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Charles and Teresa Chambers of Nantucket.

As a Jehovah’s Witness, Ron enjoyed sharing the hope found in the Bible with others. In his spare time, he could be found playing his bass guitar.

A memorial talk will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 692 County Road, West Wareham at 2 p.m. Visiting hours have been omitted.
