Franklin passes over Shaver-Hood in superintendent search

Wareham Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood is not a finalist in Franklin’s search for a new superintendent.

On Jan. 19, the Franklin School Committee interviewed Shaver-Hood and other semi-finalists for the position. Three administrators advanced to another round of interviews, according to a published report.

The Franklin School Committee started its search for a replacement superintendent in October.

Previously, Wareham School Committee Chair Mel Lazarus said Shaver-Hood told him if she did not get the position she would remain in Wareham for at least another two years.

“She assured me if she doesn’t get this job she intends to fulfill her contract with us,” said Lazarus.

Shaver-Hood has been Wareham’s superintendent for the past three years, beginning on Aug. 1, 2013. She replaced retiring Superintendent Barry Rabinovitch. At the time she applied for the Wareham position, Shaver-Hood was superintendent of the Blackstone-Millville Regional District in Blackstone.
