Wareham Police break up alleged shoplifting ring

Search for additional suspect continues
Jan 31, 2017

Police arrested four Wareham men on Monday for allegedly orchestrating a shoplifting scheme that resulted in more than $1,700 worth of merchandise being stolen from Home Goods.

According to police, a fifth person involved was already in jail on unrelated charges while a sixth suspect is still being sought.

Police say the suspects stole items from Home Goods, located in the Wareham Crossing shopping complex, then handed them off to other members of the ring. Stolen merchandise was then returned to Home Goods in exchange for store gift cards. According to police, the suspects then sold those gift cards at a discount on the street or to local pawn shops.

The Wareham Police Department Detective Division launched an investigation when at least 10 separate shoplifting incidents that occurred in December and January at Home Goods were determined to be the result of an organized effort.

As a result of the investigation, police obtained warrants for six men, all Wareham residents.

The four arrested are as follows:

Michael Pardi, 26, of 20 Pires St.

Richard St. George, 30, of 85 Oak St.

David Dankers, Jr., 30, of 44 Sunset Boulevard

Antone Mello, 45, of 445 Main St.

Police are searching for a fifth suspect, Robert Oliveira, Jr., 36, of Wareham. Anyone with information regarding his location is encouraged to call Wareham Police at 508-295-1212.

The sixth person allegedly involved is Brandon Pratt, 24, of Wareham. Pratt is currently being held on previous, unrelated theft charges and will face further criminal charges.
